2. part
One part of the travel diary in one breath ... there are many things we need to tell, Rita and Emma arrived on Tuesday and on Wednesday without wasting any time they were on the front-line of the ‘slum area’ to deliver all of the things that you prepared f the slums’ ‘A feast for sore eyes’ to see them try to choose from all of the things that were in front of them! An experience that will remain imprinted on my mind and without you all we couldn’t have given out so many little clothes. Tiring work with the heat encountered it becomes a sort of hell but the first basic and necessary deliveries made. And then without stopping, to the orphanage, many little curious ne for the ‘children of or eyes studied us, then a thousand hugs and kisses and then it was time for ‘Pappa’ food, when the little ones eat! Emma already an expert meanwhile Rita fought back the tears, never tired, never sleep and in the right spirit and the children can feel it and they never tire. This is why we are here, to bring love and these two have made a valiant effort. Rita and Emma, thank you from the bottom of my heart, when they return back home tired but content I am sure they will tell you all. And now I am down with flu, just like most of the little ones, its the season however all is well. Then I return to the orphanage and discover that one child is very ill and very weak, the latest rush to the hospital, the little body has started to ‘go down’ but his mind-set and will of iron managed to pull him through .... we say ‘by a hair’ but he has very little hair but he is renewed and with us again, now resting ..... Now its meeting after meeting to decide what to do for Christmas and the first letters to Santa Claus set in motion on the fastest sleigh to the most patient person in the world to the home of Father Christmas which is beginning to fill up.
Then a meeting with the Social Services within the Council of the area of the ‘slums’ and this year it will be bigger .. we don’t know the exact number of children who will take part but Santa Claus will respond to the challenge, they usually arrive around 5pm in the evening in the dining area its always a thrilling time for ‘yours truly’ who stays with the little ‘terrors’ a constant buzz, the beating of cutlery and the thousands of requests to satisfy. The work of the electrical plant will move forward in the next episode and you will read the results and now another volunteer arrives, and now I think it is the time to take advantage of this travelog to tell you some more stories about a few of our little guests in the orphanage, many have asked me and if you follow me you will feel some of the most beautiful times .......... see you soon!!
