Take Care Kids

Christmas….we’re almost there…..so Santa has started looking for a little present, a thought for all those who live in the slums. We are working specifically for them this year. The kids living in the three slum areas where we work right now are approximately one hundred. We cannot give a specific number, because these little iron cities keep changing constantly and the inhabitants change with them. The last count we received told us that 65% of them are girls between the age of 0 to 14. we will most probably celebrate on the 22nd of December with them, while we will be at the Orphanage on the 24th and at the Rayong Aids Center on the 25th. If there will be any extra presents we will give them to the kids in the last center.

But let’s go back to the celebration on the 22nd. We thought that it would be best if all the people living in the three slums gathered in one place, this will also help them socialize and enjoy the party. The kids will receive a little present but we have decided to offer a “Christmas Lunch” to all. In order to do this we will gather local street vendors so that every single person can choose what he/she prefers to eat…..this small gesture will ensure the success of the celebration.

In the meantime, the Orphanage’s Christmas preparations are well underway. The Christmas Tree is done and the Nativity Scene is almost finished. Presents will be pouring in from all the sponsors who come visit the children here every year, so there will be great smiles from all. We decided to support the kids in the slums this year because we believe they are in the direst need at the moment. And most of all, due to the economic crisis, we cannot fulfil everyone’s needs. As you all know our hardest efforts go to providing slum mothers and kids with a real home. In following this goal, we have to make some choices…and I believe all those reading this will agree with our choices.
