Travel journal 2011/12 - 1. part

{gallery}diario/11-12/,single=01_1.JPG{/gallery} ....hello my friends....I'm a little late with the news this time...maybe because I used to process them faster and it takes a little more time now. Many things have happened in this first month here in Thailand, close to our children, the ones we help and will be helping in the near future. First of all, I must thank those who allowed me to take 120kg of clothes toys and other things on the plane. Armando and Anna from Thai ...

{gallery}diario/11-12/,single=02_1.JPG,random=2,limit=-1,limit_quantity=1{/gallery}Dear friends, let's pick up where we left off the last time.....Tanakon, the very premature baby (born at 5 and a half months), keeps fighting strenuously for his life....today he weighs 1.1kg and was transferred to the public Hospital in Chonburi and is living in an incubator, obviously. We try to help his mother out and judging by her reaction, we're doing a pretty good job even though we are not doing all that much...all we can do for her child is ...

Travel journal 2011/12 - 3. part

there are no photos in sign of our mourning This could have been a very special part of the journal. Full of happiness for the opening of our Shelter. It could have beena very special day, a day to remember with joy. But in the end it turned out to be a normal day. I should have known from the early hours that it would have been a day like many others for me. Frida, our incredible volunteer, was ready al 11.30 at the door of her guest house. So was Ann's mother (the child was at school), she was waiting for me in front of a ...

{gallery}diario/11-12/,single=04_1.jpg,random=2,limit=-1,limit_quantity=1{/gallery} Merry Christmas and Happy 2012 to everyone, and to all of us.....our Take Care Kids Onlus Thailand Foundation family. We will celebrate Christmas in our Shelter with the mothers and children we are hosting, along with other children who come visit almost every day to play and to keep away from trouble. It will be a simple but warm Christmas. A Thai Restaurant will donate the whole dinner for the 25th, and of course we will have a dish of spaghetti for our Italian volunteers and guests. I am filled with joy to tell you about our first Christmas ...

{gallery}diario/11-12/,single=05_1.JPG,random=2,limit=-1,limit_quantity=1{/gallery} January, just like the last part of December, was very emotional. We celebrated Christmas with the sick children in the Banglamung Hospital (along with Danilo and Khun Noot) and then with the children who live and hang out at our shelter. We brought more than 35 gift packs at the hospital, and each pack contains a bear, a dark chocolate bar and a milk chocolate bar and some lollipops. Most of the bears and stuffed animals came from Italy. The only new thing (and to me this was a real big change) was that this year, Piero was the ...

{gallery}diario/11-12/,single=06_1.jpg,random=2,limit=-1,limit_quantity=1{/gallery} every adventure has its challenges....or at least so they said in an Italian film of the '80s......not even close to the challenges we face here in Thailand though...I just liked the idea of quoting the movie....I wanted to underline how tough it is to work in an honest and transparent manner....but I won't say any more on the subject, or they might shut us down....I'll tell you of our intense month and of the two success stories we had with the mothers at the shelter. The first is about Teng who finally got her Identity Card and her daughter ...

{gallery}diario/11-12/,single=07_1.jpg,random=2,limit=-1,limit_quantity=1{/gallery}Dear friends,Another month has gone by, actually flown by. We had many cases, some of them very serious, always regarding children. We also had some very pleasant visits like the one from Armando Mucciflora from Thai Airways Rome. We accomplished many things, as always, but today, I'd like to spend a few words on our project in case some of you still have doubts about it. The doubts are my responsibility because I'm not very good at explaining things in a clear and direct way, but lets go by ...

{gallery}diario/11-12/,single=08_1.jpg,random=2,limit=-1,limit_quantity=1{/gallery}Today, I am going to start where I left off last time: we will talk about our Shelter. It is so nice for me to get to the office and hear the kids playing.....the kids staying at the shelter are Kluay, Sa, L and M (I know it sounds weird, but those letters are their names),Ann and Two. To tell you the truth, when I get to the office, they are generally at ...

{gallery}diario/11-12/,single=09_1.jpg,random=2,limit=-1,limit_quantity=1{/gallery}There are things you hardly ever get used to, especially after the wonderful day we spent with the kids today. During my night tour I sat next to a massage parlour drinking a water bottle to fight the heat. At a certain point, a woman comes my way with a child. She has short dark hair, a white dress, black feet and hands and black shiny eyes. The woman, who said she was the ...

{gallery}diario/11-12/,single=10_1.jpg,random=2,limit=-1,limit_quantity=1{/gallery} Today, I'd like to start by thanking some people before talking about our Shelter. First of all, I'd like to thank the Camozzi Group and family who dedicated to TCK their sports day. A special thanks goes to Daniela Pozzi, who represents the heart of all initiatives around the area of Brescia and who has been supporting us over the years. Then, I'd like to thank Walter Martinelli, owner of Borgo Zen (before known as Albergo della Salute), who organised an event in Val Taleggio in order to raise funds for our shelter. Every time I thank someone I ...

{gallery}diario/11-12/,single=11_1.jpg,random=2,limit=-1,limit_quantity=1{/gallery} Today is a joyous day. It is our first anniversary here at the Shelter. Therefore I invite you to celebrate our first year together, because, as I'll never tire to say, we can do all the things we do thanks to all of those who support our project. We are a miracle....and those who came to visit us can understand what I'm talking about. You saw our daily commitment and all the mothers and kids we help. Presently, we are trying to make life better for eight ...

{gallery}diario/2013/,single=01_1.jpg,random=2,limit=-1,limit_quantity=1{/gallery}hello all, past the xmas there are many things that have happened in our Shelter. First of all came to see us and work with us Astorige and Gianni. Have been with us 10 days and really helped us a lot. With the children they immediately established a wonderful relationship, although at first we were a normal distrust. Have accompanied us during Children's Day that Thailand children of Thailand celebrated every January ...
